Joseph W Phebus graduated with honors (Order of the Coif) from the University of Illinois
College of Law in 1968 after service in the military. He is a 1962 graduate
of the University of Illinois College of Engineering.

For many years he has been involved representing claimants in wrongful
death and personal injury actions, including those arising out of medical
negligence and aircraft crashes. In association with local attorneys,
he has served as lead attorney in trials in other states including Indiana,
Iowa, Michigan, Florida and Wisconsin.
He is also extensively involved in class action litigation having served
as lead counsel in several cases, including a case against Illinois
Blue Cross involving the handling of co-payments, Country Companies
Insurance Company in regard to the use of non-OEM parts, and truck bed
liner manufacturers concerning fire hazards. Other class actions include
suits against motor vehicle insurance companies involving use of non-OEM
parts and involving failure to pay diminished value, suits against telephone
service providers involving cramming and in-line wire maintenance, suits
against lenders involving forced placed collateral protection insurance,
and suits against petroleum companies concerning advertising.
